A Cabaret

Invited by the San Diego Women’s Chorus to present in their winter cabaret, I performed Buzzed, a comic solo of a cantakerous person obsessed with capturing an incompliant insect.

Yo-Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin’s Flight of the Bumblebee drives the fencing, boxing, dashing action with quick punctuated elipses when the animal itself appears to land on me.

This is one of those dances that, like Scottish Highland, requires an extensive warm-up for its sudden leaping shifts. An addition of a ridiculous sweater and a subtraction of pants supported an introduction in which the MC explained that as a new chorus member, they were a little…concerned about me.
